Nina and Jamie MacLean, the owners, outside of the Mackerel Sky restaurant in Newlyn, Cornwall.

Our story

Mackerel Sky Seafood Bar was opened in May 2015 by Nina and Jamie MacLean. They previously owned the Mackerel Sky restaurant in Penzance but sold that in 2016 to start a family. The seafood bar started as a seasonal restaurant but is now open most of the year! See below for current opening hours.

Got Questions?

Are you open all year?

closed mid dec-mid feb, otherwise open daily.

Do you take bookings?

The restaurant does not take bookings, We operate a queue system when busy. Please note it is a very small restaurant with a mixture of outdoor & indoor seating. Very limited capacity in poor weather.

Are you dog friendly?

Absolutely! We welcome well behaved dogs inside and outside.

Do you have parking?

No, however there are car parks at Duke Street and Tolcarne both a 2 minute walk from the restaurant. Click here for directions and parking information.

Are you child friendly?

Yes! We have a baby change table in our bathroom. We do not have highchairs / special kids menus but all our dishes are ‘taster’ size.

Are you suitable for vegetarian/vegans?

Unfortunately due to the size of the kitchen, our menu is solely focussed on fish and seafood but we do have side orders and desserts and the chefs can make up a vegetarian salad to order.

Do you sell gift vouchers?

Yes we do. You can pop into the restaurant any time to purchase one.
